Finally, the Love Story You’ve Been Waiting for!

If...

you love good literature without violence, profanity, or inappropriate relationships;

you’re looking for a positive, faith-based love story with a happy but believable ending;

you long to get your hands on a novel that confirms your values and makes you feel good about life…

then thank goodness you’ve found

Touching the Brilliance of Sunrise.

Dear Lover of Good Literature,

How would you like to find a romance novel that is entertaining (with good, clean fun), uplifting, and supportive of your values? One that reinforces the traditional ideal of real love…one that you’ll be happy to leave lying around for your teenagers to find?

Good news: you have. Announcing…

Touching the Brilliance of Sunrise

Very much as a labor of love, I wrote this story to fill a need for wholesome, enjoyable, realistic literature. My characters aren’t "perfect." They talk like real people, have real needs, make real mistakes, learn valuable lessons. They don’t "preach" or go around quoting Scripture. They simply grow in their faith and in their relationships with each other, and set an example for those around them…and for you and your family.

Let’s take a peek inside…

Melissa, a youthful midlife artist from California, takes a vacation with her kids to the coast of Maine. As her son will be leaving for college at the end of the vacation, she hopes to create some quality family time at this turning point in their lives.

Beyond this summer, Melissa longs to move to Maine—soon—with her two daughters, and plans to use this time to find the perfect place to live. She is not looking for love. But...

Providence has other plans.

They meet Kraig, who is walking on the same beach with his guide dog; it is the dog that has caught the girls’ attention. Although Melissa doesn’t find out until much later the full reason for his visit, he has come from his home in Oregon to revisit the places of his youth. He’s not looking for love, either.

Kraig is a writer, slightly younger; he’s articulate, charming, gentlemanly, deeply intuitive; he sings and loves babies. When he calls her "naïve" because she doesn’t ask him ignorant questions (as other people do), she learns it is a compliment. Kraig is quite unlike any man she’s known before. Yet Melissa is afraid, knowing she’s vulnerable to his attention, because of her emotionally unfulfilled past.

A summer serendipity…or a future together?

Since their homes are not too far apart, they decide to continue seeing each other. As Melissa gets to know Kraig and begins to fall in love, she dares to believe she’ll not only achieve her longtime dream of moving to Maine, but that she’ll have Kraig too; surely she’ll convince him he wants to move back.

Kraig, in the meantime, is reluctant to fall in love again. The memories of a long-ago bad marriage…a lingering fear of attractive women…his devotion to his surrogate family that keeps him emotionally tied to Oregon…and some deep, unresolved hurts that Melissa learns of gradually…all work together to create an inner conflict that she, at times, reads as disinterest.

It seems that it's meant to be...

As they discover how Providential their meeting truly is, and reveal their deepest selves to each other, they find that they are the only ones who can meet each other’s needs. They marry, Kraig moves to California, and everyone who knows them sees that they’re both happier than they’ve ever been.

But once the excitement has settled and the inevitable adjustments have been made, Melissa dusts off her plan of moving to Maine…and is shocked and disappointed to learn that Kraig has different ideas. For a sense of duty calls him to something higher…something that heartbreakingly conflicts with her dream.

What is Melissa going to do?

Well…we already know that Touching the Brilliance of Sunrise has a happy ending. But walk this journey with Melissa…and you might make some priceless discoveries for yourself.

Read Touching the Brilliance of Sunrise

and find out, along with Melissa:

  • Why did Kraig come to Maine…alone? He can’t drive around sightseeing…is he there to visit someone? Who? Has she misinterpreted his friendly interest as romantic?
  • What is the significance of that piece of green beach glass he carries in his pocket—until he gives it to her?
  • Why must she wait so long to meet his best friend? (You’ll be surprised—and amused!—at the answer.)
  • What’s in that letter he’s kept in his dresser drawer for fifteen years…unread?
  • Finally, why does he keep avoiding any mention of moving to Maine? Why doesn’t he share her dream? How can she be happy if she gives it up?

Stay tuned for a possible sequel…

On a trip to Oregon, Melissa’s older daughter meets a former missionary’s cute biracial adopted little brother, who’s returning from the mission field to attend college….
